Ingredients
2 lb. Loaf Bread
  • 1¼ cup + 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 4 cups white bread flour
  • 1½ teaspoons bread machine yeast
  • 2 teaspoons low sodium salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons nonfat dry milk
1.5 lb. Loaf Bread
  • 1¼ cup + 1 tablespoon water
  • 1½ tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 3 cups white bread flour
  • 1¼ teaspoons bread machine yeast
  • 1¾ teaspoons low sodium salt
  • 1¾ tablespoons sugar
  • 1¾ tablespoons nonfat dry milk
Instructions
  1. The first step in this recipe is to combine all the ingredients in the listed order above into the mixing unit. This is one of the easier breads to make, and many models of bread maker will have the "white bread" or "light" bread setting to ensure a good crust along with a tender inside. The kneading process itself should only take about 10 min., and no waiting is needed to then activate the baking process.
  2. All of us are familiar with this particular form of bread, and we all know what to look for as far as it baking properly. The entire process should only take about 20 min., after which the bread can be taken out of the machine and placed in a cool ventilated area.
  3. One taste of this freshly baked homemade white bread will make you see why it is the most popular in America still to this day. Feel free to slice it as thinly or as thickly as you like, depending on your appetite or the kind of sandwich you have in mind. Notes
Tips and Suggestions -adding a little bit of egg white to the dough as is mixing will add a bit of moisture and texture to the bread when it comes out. Also this bread recipe makes for a very mean French toast when it becomes a bit too old for sandwiches.
