1.5 lb. Loaf Recipe:

  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons butter/margarine
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh sage leaves

  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
  • 3 tablespoons dry milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
  1. Always make sure you have read the bread machine instructions before beginning. Your bread machine needs to be assembled correctly and in working order before you attempt this recipe. Check that you have all the necessary utensils and select the light crust setting on the bread maker; this will give a nice crispy light golden crust.
  2. You start adding the ingredients one by one, in the order they are listed above. When all the ingredients are in the baking pan you should close the top and select the mix button.
  3. After five minutes lift the lid of the baking pan and have a look at the mixture. If you need to feel the dough to get an idea of the consistency then do it. If it is too wet or too dry then take appropriate steps to correct the mixture.
  4. Now that the dough is the perfect consistency, you can turn your machine setting to “white bread”. Be patient while the bread cooks, and once it is done carefully remove it from the machine. Place it onto the cooling rack to cool.
Notes
Tips and Suggestions - Bread machines, which have bread, pan capacity of nine cups or more work best for this recipe. If you don’t have any fresh herbs available then you can substitute half a teaspoon each of dried sage and thyme leaves and one teaspoon of dried basil and oregano leaves instead of the fresh herbs.
