Bread Machine Raisin Bread Recipe

2 lb. Loaf Recipe
  • ⅔ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg (whisked)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • ½ cup while wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon nonfat dry milk
  • 1½ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ⅔ cup raisins
  1. Before beginning, make sure that all of your cooking surfaces and utensils are clean. Check to be sure that your bread oven is fully assembled and that the kneading paddle is in place. Have a cooling rack nearby and ready for when your bread is finished.
  2. Add water, yeast, salt, dry milk and butter into the bread pan, in this order. Whisk egg and add it to bread machine pan along with brown sugar. Add the bread flour evenly to the bread pan. Set the bread machine to either the basic or white cycle. Add raisins at fruit and nut signal, which will be half way through the cooking time. Allow the bread to cool on a wire cooling rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
Tips and suggestions: Although this recipe says one thing, if your manufacturer’s instructions are different, it is best to follow them. In the even you will be adding the yeast last, make a small well with your finger to place the yeast. This will insure the proper timing of the east reaction. This recipe calls for the bread to be processed on the basic or white cycle. If your manufacturer’s directions are different, follow them. Feel free to add cinnamon or nutmeg to taste. If you are allergic to dairy, use substitutes for the eggs, milk and butter.

    This recipe definitely didn’t work for me. Were there supposed to be eggs listed in the ingredients?

      Thanks for pointing that out Dawna. I have updated the recipe now and it does include the egg so you were right. I don’t know how that was left out, and I do apologize.
