Potato bread is a great way to put those mashed potatoes to use. This filling bread is great for with meals or on its own. Here’s a recipe that’ll have you making homemade Potato bread in your bread machine, with ease.

Ingredients
2 lb. Loaf Recipe
  • ¾ cup potato cooking water, room temp
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temp, cut into ½ inch pieces
  • 1 large egg, room temp
  • 1 cup plain mashed potato
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon granulated white sugar
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons instant dry milk
  • 2 tablespoons potato starch
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons dry active, instant or bread machine yeast
1.5 lb. Loaf Recipe
  • ¼ cup potato cooking water, room temp
  • ¾ tablespoons unsalted butter, room temp, cut into ½ pieces
  • 1 large egg, room temp
  • ¾ cup plain mashed potato
  • 1⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon granulated white sugar
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 ½ tablespoons potato starch
  • 1 ¾ teaspoons dry active, instant or bread machine yeast
Instructions
  1. As with any cooking project, you want to begin by making sure that all of your cooking surfaces and utensils are clean. Have all of your ingredients gathered for easy access. You will need your bread pan and kneading paddle. You should also have a wire cooking rack and thermometer to check the temperature of your bread.
  2. Begin your bread by placing all of the listed ingredients, in the order that they are listed, into the bread pan fitted with the kneading paddle. Remember that when you are putting the yeast in last, create a well with your fingers in the dry ingredients and place the yeast in the well. This is done to keep the yeast from coming in contact with the wet ingredients and activating too quickly.
  3. Press the menu button and choose the White or Basic bread program. Select the loaf size and crust color of your preference. Press the start button to begin mixing the dough. The bread machine will continue to knead, rise and bake the bread.
  4. If you want to, when the kneading paddle stops, you can remove the dough to reshape it. When you’re done, simply return the dough to the pan to finish baking. When the baking cycle is finished, move the hot bread to the wire cooling rack that you already have nearby.
