    Ingredients Needed
    • 2lb.Loaf Recipe
    • 1 1/4 cup milk
    • 2 eggs
    • 3 3/4 tablespoons margarine
    • 3 3/4 cups bread flour
    • 1/4 cup white sugar
    • 1 7/8 teaspoons salt
    • 1 7/8 teaspoons active dry yeast
    • 1.5lb. Loaf Recipe
    • 3/4 cup milk
    • 2 eggs
    • 3 tablespoons margarine
    • 3 cups bread flour
    • 1/4 cup white sugar
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
    Instructions
    1. Before you start, make sure that you have gathered all of your ingredients. See that all of your utensils and cooking areas are clean. Be certain that your bread machine is properly assembled. You will need your bread pan. Check that your kneading paddle is attached properly.
    2. Add all of the ingredients to bread machine pan in the order that is recommended by you bread machine manufacturer. The machine will mix and knead the dough. Don’t be afraid to open the lid of your bread machine and check your dough. If the dough seems a bit sticky, add flour a tablespoon at time.
    3. When the dough cycle is done, you can remove it from the bread pan to reshape it. Flatten the dough and cut it into 3 equal parts. Roll each piece so that they look like ropes and braid them together. Press the ends to the bottom side of the dough.
    4. Select the Basic or White setting on your bread machine. The crust color can be chose to your preference. Check your bread using a digital thermometer. It should read between 200 and 210 degrees. When the Challah s done, remove it from the bread machine and let it cool on a wire rack.

    Notes

    The braid formation is not mandatory for Challah; it is more traditional than anything. Challah can be baked in loaf form.
